Scanner

Scanner (CT)

The building’s bottom floor has the Siemens Smile spiral scanner, which can be used for daily scans of the brain, spinal cord, spinal column, and, if prescribed by a physician, computed tomography of the lungs, upper abdomen, and lower abdomen.

The examinations are performed with the application of non-ionic contrast agents. The minimum section thickness is 1 mm. in 0.75 sec.

The following examinations can be performed on the scanner (by body part):

  • Lungs and thorax (chest): CT scanner can detect infections, tumors, dilation of blood vessels (aneurysms), metastases.
  • Abdomen (abdominal cavity): CT scanner can detect pathological fluid collections, tumors, as well as some diseases of the urinary tract.
  • Liver: CT scan can detect liver tumors, liver hemorrhages, and minor liver diseases
  • Pancreas: CT is an extremely high-quality device when it comes to detecting tumors and inflammation of the pancreas (acute and chronic pancreatitis).
  • Gallbladder and bile ducts: CT is used to detect the location and cause of a block in the flow of bile.
  • Adrenal glands: CT is able to detect tumors of the adrenal glands
  • Spleen: CT is used to evaluate injuries to the spleen.
  • Spine and spinal column: CT can detect tumors, injuries, degenerative changes, deformities, herniated discs, and other spinal problems.
  • Brain: Tumor tissue, edematous brain tissue, brain abscess capsule, hematoma, infarction, and calcifications can be distinguished.
